Anand Pattani

Anand Pattani is a director and founder of Smithfield Partners with over 20 years of international experience in transactional corporate law, commercial law and disputes.

Anand has led teams in transactions and projects across a range of industry sectors encompassing commercial law, mergers and acquisitions and private equity, insolvency, intellectual property, sports law, employment law and property.

His transactional experience includes:

Acting as the lead lawyer for the the ‘Dubai Super Cup’ which included negotiating and finalising all commercial agreements between the organiser, (mandated by the Dubai Sports Council) and the participating clubs, Liverpool FC, Arsenal FC, AC Milan, and Olympique Lyonnais. This also included drafting and finalising agreements for all other aspects of the tournament, including sponsorship, ticketing, merchandising and the sale and distribution of broadcasting rights in over 112 territories worldwide.

Leading a team in the disposal of a number of African telecoms companies to Orascom Telecom for aggregate consideration exceeding USD 96m.

Leading a team in the disposal of the goodwill and assets of Stirling Ackroyd, a market leading London estate agency;

Acting for UHY Hacker Young, KPMG, PKF and Begbies Traynor in a wide range of insolvency related transactions.

Commercial Agreements related to the supply of goods and services for One Hyde Park, at time the highest valued real estate development in London.

Uniquely he has also taken a lead in high value commercial disputes and High Court litigation.

He led the firm’s litigation team in several high profile intellectual property cases including FAPL (Football Association Premier League) v QC Leisure, UEFA and BskyB v Euroview Sport and subsequent references to the European Union which were landmark decisions in sports broadcasting and copyright.

Anand has acted in a number of commercial and shareholder disputes across industry sectors such as education, lottery, gaming, telecoms, licensed leisure and retail.

He advises high net worth investors, quoted public companies, private companies, partnerships and start-ups.
